Daniel Shadbolt
Episode One.
Artist Bio.
Daniel Shadbolt was born in Hertfordshire in 1980 and has spent the better part of three decades doing one thing seriously, looking, and then painting what he sees.
He studied at Chelsea College of Art and Design, completing his degree in Fine Art in 2003, before going on to The Drawing Year at The Royal Drawing School. Since 2008 he has taught painting at The Heatherley School of Fine Art, and in 2015 became an elected member of the New English Art Club.
Working in oils, Daniel paints still life, landscapes, portraits and interiors, using light and tone as the framework, and the brushstroke as what he calls the lyricism of the picture. His style has become more abstracted over the years, not as a pursuit of abstraction itself, but as a natural result of simplifying what he sees in order to paint it.
His published book on painting and drawing the head came out in 2016. His work sits in the Ruth Borchard Collection and he has exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery, the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, and across London's leading independent galleries.
He lives and works in west London.
