Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before making a purchase. By completing a purchase on this website, you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not proceed with your purchase.

1. About Us

Behind the Easel is operated by BEHIND THE EASEL FILMS LTD [Company Number: 17302636], a company registered in England and Wales, whose registered address is 81 Hyperion Walk, Horley, Surrey RH6 7DB ("we", "us", "our").

We produce and distribute premium documentary films featuring professional artists, made available for purchase and viewing on this website.

2. Key Definitions

In these Terms, the following words have the meanings given below:

"Content" means any Artist Episode or other digital product made available for purchase on this website.

"Artist Episode" means an individual documentary film featuring a named artist, available for individual purchase.

"Purchase" means the completed transaction by which you pay the stated price and are granted Viewing Access.

"Viewing Access" means the right to watch the Content via secure, authenticated streaming through your Account for the period, as described in Clause 3.4.

"Account" means the personal account you create on this website to access purchased Content.

"Platform" means the Behind the Easel website and any associated digital services operated by us.

3. What You Are Buying

3.1 A Licence, Not Ownership

When you purchase Content on Behind the Easel, you are purchasing a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to watch that Content via the Platform during your Viewing Access. You are not purchasing ownership of the Content, or any copyright, intellectual property right, or physical copy of the Content.

Think of it like a cinema ticket for a film you can watch again and again — not a copy of the film that belongs to you.

3.2 Streaming Only — No Downloads

All Content is delivered via secure streaming only. No downloadable file will be provided. You must have an internet connection and a compatible device to watch Content.

We do not support and expressly prohibit any attempt to download, capture, screen-record, or otherwise extract a copy of the Content from our streaming service.

3.3 Access to Your Account

Once your purchase is complete and your Account is active, you can watch your purchased Content by logging in to your Account on this website. Access is tied to your Account and cannot be transferred to another person.

3.4 Duration of Viewing Access

Your Purchase gives you Viewing Access for an initial period of 12 months from the date of purchase, subject to the withdrawal provisions in Clause 10.2. If Content is permanently withdrawn before the end of that 12-month period and you consequently lose Viewing Access, the refund provisions in Clause 10.2 will apply. If the Content remains available on the Platform after the initial 12-month period, we intend to continue providing Viewing Access without additional charge for as long as that Content remains available on the Platform. However, Viewing Access after the initial 12-month period is not guaranteed and the Content may subsequently be withdrawn in accordance with Clause 10.

4. Your Account

4.1 Creating an Account

To access purchased Content, you must create an Account. You must be at least 18 years old to create an Account and make a purchase. By creating an Account you confirm that you are 18 or over.

4.2 Account Security

You are responsible for keeping your Account login details confidential. You must not share your username, password, or access link with any other person.

If you become aware of any unauthorised use of your Account, you must notify us immediately at hello@behindtheeasel.com.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your Account if we have reason to believe that your login details or access links have been shared in breach of these Terms, or that your Account is being used to provide unauthorised access to the Content.

4.3 One Account Per Household

The purchase is for personal/private viewing. You can watch it with people in your household, but you cannot give other people your login details or send them an access link so they can watch independently.

5. Pricing and Payment

5.1 Prices

All prices displayed on the Platform are in pounds sterling (GBP) and are inclusive of VAT at the applicable rate. The price you see at checkout is the price you pay.

5.2 Payment Processing

Payments are processed securely by our third-party payment processor. We do not store your card details. By completing a purchase you agree to the payment processor's terms of service.

5.3 Purchase Confirmation

Once your payment has been successfully processed, you will receive a confirmation email and your Content will be made available in your Account. Please check your spam folder if you do not receive a confirmation email within a few minutes.

5.4 Promotional Pricing and Discount Codes

We may from time to time offer promotional pricing, discount codes, or bundle offers. These are offered at our sole discretion and may be withdrawn at any time. A discount code must be applied at the time of checkout and cannot be applied retrospectively.

5.5 Bundle Purchases

Where Content is purchased as part of a bundle or collection, each item in the bundle is governed by these Terms. Except where a refund or other remedy is due under these Terms or applicable law, no refund will be given in respect of an individual item within a bundle. Where a refund is due for an individual item, the refund will be calculated by reference to a reasonable proportion of the bundle price attributable to that item.

6. Your Licence — What You Can and Cannot Do

6.1 What You Can Do

Your purchase grants you the right to:

• Watch the Content as many times as you wish via your Account on the Platform during your Viewing Access.
• Access the Content from any personal device registered to your Account.
• Enjoy the Content for your own personal, non-commercial, private use.

6.2 What You Cannot Do

You must not, under any circumstances:

• Share your Account login details or access link with any other person.
• Screen record, capture, download, copy or otherwise extract the Content from the Platform by any means, whether technical or otherwise.
• Upload, post, stream, broadcast, redistribute, resell, sublicense or otherwise make the Content available to any third party.
• Use the Content for any commercial purpose, including showing it to a paying audience, using it in advertising, or incorporating it into any other product or service.
• Remove, alter or obscure any copyright notice, watermark or rights management information from the Content.
• Use any automated tool, bot, scraper or technical means to access, copy or extract the Content.
• Attempt to circumvent, disable or interfere with any technical protection measure applied to the Content.

Our Content is protected by copyright law and digital rights management technology. Unauthorised copying or sharing is a serious matter and will be treated accordingly.

6.3 Consequences of Misuse

If you breach any of the restrictions in Clause 6.2, we may immediately suspend or permanently terminate your Account without refund, and we reserve the right to pursue any available legal remedy including an injunction and a claim for damages. The refund provisions in Clause 10.2 do not apply where Viewing Access is lost because your Account has been validly suspended or terminated as a result of your breach of these Terms.

7. Intellectual Property

All Content on the Platform, including but not limited to the films, footage, music, graphics, titles, descriptions, artist profiles, and all other materials, is owned by or licensed to Behind the Easel and is protected by copyright, database rights and other intellectual property laws.

Nothing in these Terms transfers any intellectual property right to you. Your licence to watch the Content is personal and strictly limited to the terms set out in Clause 6.

The Behind the Easel name, logo and brand are our trade marks. You may not use them without our prior written consent.

Artwork and creative works belonging to individual artists that appear in Content remain the intellectual property of those artists. Your purchase does not grant you any right to reproduce, copy, print, sell or otherwise use an artist's work.

8. Refunds and Cancellation

8.1 Digital Content and Your Right to Cancel

Under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013, you have a right to cancel a purchase within 14 days of the date of purchase (the "Cooling-Off Period").

However, if you choose to receive access to the Content during this period, you will be asked at checkout to expressly consent to the supply or availability to you of the Content beginning immediately and acknowledge that if you confirm such express consent, you will lose your right to cancel once such supply or availability of the Content begins.

8.2 Faulty or Misdescribed Content

 If the Content you have purchased is faulty, not of satisfactory quality, not fit for purpose, or does not match its description on the Platform, please contact us at hello@behindtheeasel.com. We will provide the remedies available to you under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which may include repair or replacement of the Content or, where appropriate, a price reduction or refund.

8.3 Other Refunds

Except as provided in Clauses 8 and 10 or where required by law, purchases are non-refundable.

9. Privacy and Your Data

We take your privacy seriously. When you create an Account and make a purchase, we collect and process your personal data (including your name, email address, and payment information) in order to:

• Process your purchase and provide you with Viewing Access.
• Manage your Account.
• Send you purchase confirmations and account-related communications.
• Comply with our legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. Our full Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms, is available at [behindtheeasel.com/privacy].

By making a purchase and creating an Account, you confirm that you have read and understood our Privacy Policy.

10. Platform Availability and Changes to Content

10.1 Availability

We aim to keep the Platform and your purchased Content available at all times, but we cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. The Platform may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, technical issues, or circumstances beyond our control.

10.2 Withdrawal of Content

We may withdraw Content from the Platform, temporarily or permanently, where reasonably necessary because:

• we are required to do so by law or regulatory requirement;
• rights, licences or clearances required to make the Content available expire, are withdrawn or become reasonably disputed;
• continued availability would expose us to legal liability; or
• we enter into a sale, licence, commission, distribution or other commercial or exploitation arrangement relating to the Content, the Behind the Easel brand or related content, and withdrawal of the Content is required or reasonably necessary in connection with that arrangement.

Where reasonably practicable, we will give affected Account holders advance notice of permanent withdrawal.

If Content is withdrawn during the initial 12-month period following your Purchase and you consequently lose Viewing Access for the remainder of that period, we will refund the price you paid for that Content. If your Purchase was for a bundle of Content and only some of that Content is withdrawn, we will refund a fair proportion of the Purchase price you paid for that bundle. If all of the Content in the bundle is withdrawn, we will refund the full Purchase price you paid for that bundle.

Where the Content was purchased as part of a bundle, we will refund calculation will be applied to the reasonable proportion of the bundle price attributable to that Content.



No contractual refund will be due solely because Content is withdrawn after the initial 12-month period has expired. This does not affect any statutory rights you may have.

10.3 Changes to the Platform

We may update, change or discontinue any aspect of the Platform at any time, including technical delivery methods, streaming providers, and website functionality. We will always endeavour to maintain the quality of your Viewing Access.

We will not materially reduce your Viewing Access during the initial 12-month period except as permitted by these Terms or where reasonably necessary for temporary maintenance or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

10.4 Platform Closure

If Behind the Easel ceases to operate the Platform permanently, we will, where reasonably practicable, give registered Account holders at least 30 days' advance notice.

If permanent closure causes you to lose Viewing Access during the initial 12-month period following a Purchase, the refund provisions in Clause 10.2 will apply.

No contractual refund will be due solely because the Platform closes after the initial 12-month period, subject always to your statutory rights.

11. Our Liability to You

11.1 What We Are Responsible For

We are responsible for loss or damage you suffer that is a foreseeable result of our breach of these Terms or our negligence. Loss or damage is foreseeable if it is an obvious consequence of our breach, or if it was contemplated by both parties at the time you made your purchase.

11.2 What We Are Not Responsible For

We are not responsible for:

• Any loss or damage that is not foreseeable.
• Any business loss, loss of profit, loss of revenue, loss of data or loss of opportunity (whether or not foreseeable).
• Any loss or damage caused by your failure to comply with these Terms.
• Any loss or damage caused by third-party services outside our reasonable control, including internet service providers or device manufacturers.
• Interruptions to the Platform caused by circumstances outside our reasonable control.

11.3 Consumer Rights

Nothing in these Terms excludes or restricts liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability which cannot lawfully be excluded or restricted.

12. Who May Use This Platform

This Platform and its Content are intended for personal use by individuals aged 18 and over. By making a purchase you confirm that you are not:

• Under the age of 18.
• Acting on behalf of a business, organisation or educational institution without our prior written consent for commercial or institutional use.
• Located in a jurisdiction where the purchase or viewing of this Content would be unlawful.

Commercial use, institutional screening, educational use, and public exhibition of Content are not covered by a standard purchase. Please contact us at hello@behindtheeasel.com to enquire about licensing for such purposes.

13. Third-Party Links and Services

The Platform may contain links to third-party websites, social media platforms, or services. These links are provided for convenience only. We have no control over third-party websites and are not responsible for their content, privacy practices, or terms of use.

Our payment processing is handled by a third-party provider. Your use of the payment service is subject to that provider's terms and privacy policy.

14. Governing Law and Disputes

14.1 Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

14.2 Disputes

If you have a complaint or problem, please contact us first at hello@behindtheeasel.com and we will do our best to resolve it promptly and fairly.

If we are unable to resolve the issue together, you may use an appropriate alternative dispute resolution (ADR) service where available. Nothing in these Terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.

15. General

15.1 Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The version displayed on the Platform at the time of your purchase is the version that applies to that purchase. We will notify registered Account holders of any material changes by email.

15.2 Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found by a court to be invalid or unenforceable, that provision shall be severed and the remaining Terms shall continue in full force and effect.

15.3 Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and us in relation to your use of the Platform and your purchase of Content. They supersede all prior representations, agreements or understandings.

15.4 No Waiver

If we do not enforce any right or provision under these Terms, that shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision.

15.5 Assignment

We may assign or transfer our rights and obligations under these Terms to another entity, including in the event of a sale of the business. Your rights under these Terms will not be diminished as a result. You may not assign your rights or obligations under these Terms.
